What looks like a tiny guitar and is loved by hipsters everywhere?
The answer: The Ukulele!
This baby sized contraption originated in the 19th century in Hawaii and was modeled after a Portuguese instrument called a Rajão. Who knew billions of years later it would become the poster instrument for plaid waring individuals.
I think the hipster draw to this particular musical tool is it’s size and ease of use. You can throw it’s roughly 15″ (38 cm) by 23″ (58 cm) sized body into the back of your corolla or backpack it while your riding your one-speed bike.
It allows you to have musical accompaniment at any time….it’s like busy street corner:
And it’s not just hipsters that love them some Ukulele….it’s like:
What kids?…I don’t have any kids I just have:
But Mom We love you! We want to take pictures with you!
NO!….YOU KNOW I HATE YOU ALL…..except for your brother johnny….for some reason I like him:
My favorite Ukulele site is called Ukulelehunt
It’s got buying tips, sheet music and all-around Hipstercred……..check it out!
So in conclusion: It is hipster to know someone who plays a Ukulele…….but you have Hipstercred if you PLAY ONE YOURSELF!…Happy strumming:)
